Are You a Spirit-Led Follower of Jesus Christ? – Acts 8 – 2026 Day 6

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 6, Acts 8

There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV

Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.”

Acts 8:18-22 ESV

Ponder the Path of your Feet 🤔👣 – Acts 6-7 – 2026 Day 5

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 5, Acts 6-7

Proverbs 4:25-27 ESV — Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet;
then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

Proverbs 5:21 NKJV — For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He ponders all his paths.

Guard Your Heart – Acts 5 – 2026 Day 4

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 4, Acts 5

Proverbs 4:23 ESV — “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”

We need to think about what we’re thinking about and watch what we’re watching, being careful what we allow in our hearts and minds because it effects what comes out of our mouths and lives.

Heavenly Father, Your Word is life-giving. Your Word is truth. Help me to guard my heart, to be careful what I allow in and what I meditate on. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of my faith, that I might head straight towards Him. Keep me on the narrow road that leads of life, not swerving to the left or right. May I keep a careful watch over my mouth, that my words, too, would be life-giving and true. In the name of Jesus Christ, my perfect high priest, I pray. Amen.

Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart – Acts 4 – 2026 Day 3

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 3, Acts 4

King Solomon meets Apostle Peter … and me.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV –
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Acts 4:18-20 ESV —
“So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.’”

I, too, can’t help but speak of what I’ve seen and heard, what I’ve experienced first hand. I’ve been changed by the risen Christ. I’ve been filled with the Holy Spirit. And I can’t keep it to myself. How about you?

Want Wisdom? REPENT and SEEK – Acts 3 – 2026 Day 2

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 2, Acts 3

“yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.”

Proverbs 2:3-5 ESV

“And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,

Acts 3:17-19 ESV

Heavenly Father, Draw men and women around the globe to cry out to You, to seek wisdom diligently, to search Your Word like they would mine for gold and diamonds. Let us be ignorant no more. We are without excuse. You have revealed Yourself in creation and in the scriptures. Equip us and send us out as mature believers, to be faithful teachers and heralds of this good news. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Jesus’s Disciples Devoted Themselves to the Apostles’ Teaching, Fellowship, and Prayer – Acts 1-2 – 2026 Day 1

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 1, Acts 1-2

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Acts 2:42 ESV

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Fill us, Lord, that we would desire to be devoted to Your Word, to the fellowship of believers, and to prayer. We want to be Your witnesses to all four corners of the earth, for Your glory and for our neighbors’ good. Make us one with You and one with one another. Make us bold and make us humble. We bow at Your feet for You alone are worthy. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, the name by which we must be saved, Amen.

Read Through the Bible in Two Years – 2026 update!

Today I’m starting the second year of the two-year Bible plan. If you’d like to begin with Day 1 of Year 1, you should begin with John 1.

For several years, I did a “Read Through the Bible in One Year” plan. I think it’s important to read the entire Bible, every word of it, and I’m glad that I’ve done that, but, I’ve found that the whole Bible in one year is a lot to absorb. It doesn’t give me much time to reflect and meditate on what I’ve read, so I decided I wanted to do a “Read Through the Bible in Two Years” plan. Simple enough, right? Wrong.

So, I made my own and I’d love to have you join me.

The plan is set up to read through each book of the Bible from beginning to end, alternating between Old Testament and New Testament books. I tried to keep the Old Testament books in chronological order. For example, Job is read after Genesis and before Exodus. I also intentionally placed New Testament books with related Old Testament books to help us see the connections in the text. For example, Hebrews is read between Leviticus and Numbers. I love to read one chapter of Luke every day from December 1-24, so each year ends with reading the book of Luke.

You’ll also notice that the Bible reading plan is set up week by week rather than day by day. One week you will devote every day to the four chapters of Philippians. In this weekly format, you could read the whole book on the first day of the week, then reread little parts the other six days … or you could read half of each chapter every day. You decide. Another week you’re assigned to read fourteen chapters of Leviticus – you might read several chapters one day and just one chapter another. Having a week by week format allows you this flexibility, but still keeps you on target.

A Prayer for my Children – Colossians 2 – 2025

Read through the Bible in 2 Years: Colossians 2

I remember as a new believer in Christ, 30+ years ago, needing to be taught how to pray. Have you ever felt that way? Do you feel that way now? Do you wish you knew how to talk with God? The scriptures are a great place to learn, especially Colossians.

I’m praying for my children, but you might be praying for yourself, your husband, your future husband, or someone else altogether. I hope these words help bend your heart and life toward God.

Heavenly Father, thank You for each of the children that You have given me as well as their spouses and children. Each of them is a gift from Your good hands.

I pray that their hearts will be encouraged and knit together in love with one another and with You. I pray that they may reach all the riches of the full assurance of faith through the understanding and knowledge of Jesus Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Protect them from those who want to deceive and confuse them with worldly philosophy and plausible arguments. Give them insight through Your Holy Spirit and through Your written Word. Please, Father, be with them while we are apart. Put strong Christians into their lives. Help them to walk faithfully in Christ, being rooted and built up in Him, established in their faith as they have been taught, with hearts full of thanksgiving.

Grow their faith in Jesus Christ, who is the head of the church and all things, and in whom the whole fullness of deity dwells.  Help them to hold fast to Him from whom the whole body is nourished and knit together that they might grow wise and strong in heart, mind, and body.

Help them to put off their fleshly desires and put on Christ, being clothed in His righteousness and made alive with Him. For Your glory and the building up of the body we pray, in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Up from the Grave He Arose

A Prayer for my Children – Colossians 1 – 2025

Read through the Bible in 2 Years: Colossians 1

Do you ever pray Scripture? Colossians is a great place to start.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending the Lord Jesus Christ for us. Thank You for the sure and certain hope that is laid up for us in heaven by faith in Him. Draw my children to faith in Jesus Christ.

I pray that each of my children will be filled with the knowledge of Your will with all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that they might walk in a manner worthy of You, Lord, living lives that are fully pleasing to You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in their knowledge of You. Help them to study your Word each and every day, that they know You better that they would love You more. May they be strengthened with all power according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with hearts full of joy and gratitude for Your saving grace.

For those who have not yet fully trusted in You for salvation, I pray that You would deliver them from Satan’s domain of darkness and place them securely in the kingdom of Your Beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Strengthen them to continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which they have heard from my own lips and from the pages of Scripture. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

Advent Day 15 – Jesus, The Prince of Peace and The Pursuer of Lost Sheep

Read through the Bible in 2 Years: Luke 15

I’m loving reading the advent devotional in “From Creation to Christ” along with a daily reading of a chapter of Luke. Hope it blesses you, too.

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.

Isaiah 9:6-7 ESV

The religious leaders were grumbling about Jesus receiving the tax collectors and sinners, so Jesus told them this parable,

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

Luke 15:4-7 ESV

And then Jesus told them another parable about a lost coin and then another parable about two sons.

Lord Jesus, You left the ninety-nine to come after me. Thank You. You pursued me while I was lost and lame, blind and dead. Thank You. Protect me from pride and hypocrisy, that leaven of the Pharisees. Give me a heart full of humble gratitude for the privilege to live in Your presence and to share in Your abundance. Amen.
