Read Through the Bible in Two Years – 2026 update!

Today I’m starting the second year of the two-year Bible plan. If you’d like to begin with Day 1 of Year 1, you should begin with John 1.

For several years, I did a “Read Through the Bible in One Year” plan. I think it’s important to read the entire Bible, every word of it, and I’m glad that I’ve done that, but, I’ve found that the whole Bible in one year is a lot to absorb. It doesn’t give me much time to reflect and meditate on what I’ve read, so I decided I wanted to do a “Read Through the Bible in Two Years” plan. Simple enough, right? Wrong.

So, I made my own and I’d love to have you join me.

The plan is set up to read through each book of the Bible from beginning to end, alternating between Old Testament and New Testament books. I tried to keep the Old Testament books in chronological order. For example, Job is read after Genesis and before Exodus. I also intentionally placed New Testament books with related Old Testament books to help us see the connections in the text. For example, Hebrews is read between Leviticus and Numbers. I love to read one chapter of Luke every day from December 1-24, so each year ends with reading the book of Luke.

You’ll also notice that the Bible reading plan is set up week by week rather than day by day. One week you will devote every day to the four chapters of Philippians. In this weekly format, you could read the whole book on the first day of the week, then reread little parts the other six days … or you could read half of each chapter every day. You decide. Another week you’re assigned to read fourteen chapters of Leviticus – you might read several chapters one day and just one chapter another. Having a week by week format allows you this flexibility, but still keeps you on target.

The Fruit of the Righteous is a Tree of Life – Acts 14 – 2026 Day 11

Proclaiming the Forgiveness of Sins through Jesus Christ – Acts 13 – 2026 Day 10

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 10, Acts 13

Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding. What the wicked dreads will come upon him, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

Proverbs 10:23-24 ESV

Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.

Acts 13:38-39 ESV

So, You Say You Want to be Wise? – Acts 12 – 2026 Day 9

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 9, Acts 12

Reading Proverbs 9 hits me hard. 🎯

As a teenage atheist, I thought I knew it all. But I didn’t. I was a fool. I didn’t listen to anyone except me … And those who agreed with me.

If you say you want to be wise,

  • Listen to wisdom.
  • Listen to the Word.
  • Listen to wise counsel.
  • Listen when your friend rebukes you.
  • Listen when the Spirit convicts you.

Listen.

Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

Proverbs 9:8-9 ESV

Trust the God of Perfect Timing – Acts 10-11 – 2026 Day 8

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 8, Acts 10-11

The infinite, eternal God works within time and space to sovereignly bring about his perfect plan. Wait on Him. Trust Him. He’s worthy.

Acts 10:17-18 ESV — Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood at the gate and called out to ask whether Simon who was called Peter was lodging there.

Who are they Persecuting?  YOU or JESUS? – Acts 9 – 2026 Day 7

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 7, Acts 9

Acts 9:4-5 ESV — And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

John 15:19 ESV — If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Don’t be surprised if the world hates you. As a Christian, you should expect persecution. If your life is easy, if you never have to defend your faith, if no one is accusing you of being stupid for following Jesus, you need to get out more! Take a risk. Speak the name of Jesus. Refuse to hide your light under bushel. Remember, it’s really HIM they’re persecuting.

Are You a Spirit-Led Follower of Jesus Christ? – Acts 8 – 2026 Day 6

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 6, Acts 8

There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV

Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.”

Acts 8:18-22 ESV

Ponder the Path of your Feet 🤔👣 – Acts 6-7 – 2026 Day 5

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 5, Acts 6-7

Proverbs 4:25-27 ESV — Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet;
then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.

Proverbs 5:21 NKJV — For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He ponders all his paths.

Guard Your Heart – Acts 5 – 2026 Day 4

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 4, Acts 5

Proverbs 4:23 ESV — “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”

We need to think about what we’re thinking about and watch what we’re watching, being careful what we allow in our hearts and minds because it effects what comes out of our mouths and lives.

Heavenly Father, Your Word is life-giving. Your Word is truth. Help me to guard my heart, to be careful what I allow in and what I meditate on. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of my faith, that I might head straight towards Him. Keep me on the narrow road that leads of life, not swerving to the left or right. May I keep a careful watch over my mouth, that my words, too, would be life-giving and true. In the name of Jesus Christ, my perfect high priest, I pray. Amen.

Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart – Acts 4 – 2026 Day 3

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Proverbs 3, Acts 4

King Solomon meets Apostle Peter … and me.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV –
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Acts 4:18-20 ESV —
“So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.’”

I, too, can’t help but speak of what I’ve seen and heard, what I’ve experienced first hand. I’ve been changed by the risen Christ. I’ve been filled with the Holy Spirit. And I can’t keep it to myself. How about you?
