Read through the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 15
“O LORD, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?” Psalm 15:1 NASB95
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:1-5 NASB95
Monday was my first day working for a ministry called LifeWise which has recently expanded into the Memphis metropolitan area. Community Bible Study classes start in two weeks. I teach four online English classes in the early morning hours. Today is my husband’s birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABE 😘), and my youngest son heads off to college for the first time on Friday! I’ve got a lot on my plate, and it’s easy to get my priorities out of line.
Yet, in God’s great mercy and providence, my youngest son and I recently finished reading Andrew Murray’s great classic, “Humility and Absolute Surrender.” The final chapter in the book is called “Ye are the Branches,” from John 15:5.
May we never get so busy
doing the work that we neglect abiding in the living Word.
Oh, Heavenly Father, please don’t allow me to put anything between You and me, not the world nor the work. Help me cling to You. Remind me that if I want to do anything fruitful, I must remain in the vine with Your blood flowing through my veins. Help me. I need You. I can’t do good or be good without You. For Your glory and my good, Amen.
