The Bible is Historically Accurate and Trustworthy. Jeremiah 27-28. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 19, Jeremiah 27-28

In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD.

Jeremiah 27:1 ESV

Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD his God. He did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of the LORD. He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the LORD, the God of Israel….

The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. But they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

2 Chronicles 36:11-13, 15-16 ESV

It is I [the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel] who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.

Jeremiah 27:5 ESV

God is Sovereign, Yet Man is Still Responsible. Jeremiah 24-26. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 17-18, Jeremiah 24-26

Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans. I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up, and not tear them down; I will plant them, and not pluck them up. I will give them a heart to know that I am the LORD, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.

Jeremiah 24:5-7 ESV

Thus says the LORD: Stand in the court of the LORD’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah that come to worship in the house of the LORD all the words that I command you to speak to them; do not hold back a word. It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I may relent of the disaster that I intend to do to them because of their evil deeds.

Jeremiah 26:2-3 ESV

BLESSED is the Man who TRUSTS in the LORD. Jeremiah 16-17. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 13, Jeremiah 16-17

Thus says the LORD:
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.

He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.

He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:5-8

Your Words were Found and I Ate Them: Delighting in God’s Word. Jeremiah 14-15. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 12, Jeremiah 14-15.

Your words were found, and I ate them,
and your words became to me a joy
and the delight of my heart,
for I am called by your name,
O LORD, God of hosts.

Having Compassion on Those who Won’t Listen. Jeremiah 13. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 11, Jeremiah 13

Hear and give ear; be not proud,
for the LORD has spoken.

Give glory to the LORD your God
before he brings darkness,
before your feet stumble…

But if you will not listen, my soul will weep in secret for your pride;
my eyes will weep bitterly
and run down with tears,
because the LORD’s flock has been taken captive.

Jeremiah 13:15-17 ESV

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Colossians 3:12-13 ESV

Is the Lord NEAR in your 👄 but FAR from your ❤️? Jeremiah 11-12. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 10, Jeremiah 11-12

Righteous are you, O LORD,
when I complain to you …
Why does the way of the wicked prosper? …
you are near in their mouth
and far from their heart.

No Boasting Except in the Lord. Jeremiah 9-10. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 9, Jeremiah 9-10

Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”

Jeremiah 9:23-24 ESV

Where is the one who is wise?

Where is the scribe?

Where is the debater of this age?

Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.

For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:20-24 ESV

Obey God and Leave the Results in His Hands. Jeremiah 7-8. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 8, Jeremiah 7-8

Jeremiah 7:27 (ESV), “So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you,” encouraged me to simply obey the Lord, to use whatever platform He gives me to speak the truth in love, and then leave the results in His hands. We live in a culture that makes choices based on whether something works, whether it produces the desired results … rather than whether it is right or wrong.

Which reminds me of a hotly contested topic that many people want to avoid:  whether a woman should be allowed (or dare I say encouraged) to abort a child diagnosed prenatally with Down Syndrome.

Take a look and listen to something I posted earlier today for my thoughts on the matter:

Do you Love God’s Word? Or NOT? Jeremiah 5-6. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 7, Jeremiah 5-6

To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear?

Behold, their ears are uncircumcised,
they cannot listen;

Behold, the word of the LORD is to them an object of scorn; they take no pleasure in it.”

Repent and Return. Jeremiah 3-4. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: Psalm 6, Jeremiah 3-4

Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, “Return, faithless Israel, declares the LORD. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the LORD; I will not be angry forever. Only acknowledge your guilt, that you rebelled against the LORD your God and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree, and that you have not obeyed my voice, declares the LORD. Return, O faithless children, declares the LORD; for I am your master; I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.”

Jeremiah 3:12-14 ESV

This reminded me of the parable of the prodigal son that Jesus told in Luke 15:17-20 ESV

“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!

I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”’

And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.”
