Read the Bible in 2 Years: Esther 1

Here’s what Matthew Henry had to say about King Ahasuerus’ command for Queen Vashti to show off her beauty: “He dishonoured himself as a husband, who ought to protect, but by no means expose, the modesty of his wife…” Amen.

But, there’s still a question in my mind about whether the king was commanding her to sin or not. It’s just not totally clear in this passage.

So, what should do when our husband – or other authority figure – makes an unrighteous request of us, whether sinful or not?
