Struggling with Idleness, especially as a Homemaker. 2 Thessalonians 2-3. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: 2 Thessalonians 2-3

Can any of you relate? It’s hard to work hard.

And having a phone in my back pocket has made it even harder.

Prayers appreciated – for me, for this generation of homemakers, and the next.

If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies.

2 Thessalonians 3:10b-11 ESV

Older women … are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled … working at home … that the word of God may not be reviled.

Titus 2:3-5 ESV

Admonish the Idle. Encourage the Fainthearted. Do Good to Everyone. 1 Thessalonians 4-5. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: 1 Thessalonians 4-5

We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.

Paul was Gentle like a Mom and Strong like a Dad. 1 Thessalonians 2-3. 2026

Read the Bible in 2 Years: 1 Thessalonians 2-3

“But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children…. For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.”

1 Thessalonians 2:7, 11-12 ESV
